Apple Day

Apple Day is held each autumn at Harestanes Countryside Centre near Ancrum.

BOG runs this event jointly with Harestanes staff and it makes an enjoyable and informative day. Central to the day is the magnificent display of apples from Alec West’s renowned orchard, and we’ll have folk standing by to help identify those anonymous apples from your garden.

BOG sells apples from members’ gardens in aid of Farm Africa – so please do bring any surplus apples along on the day, or ask us to pick them up.

We also run a juicing stall, a home baking stall and a tasting table with recipes using apples. There will also be stall selling lots of local produce such as honey, jams, chutneys and cheese.

There are children’s activities of course; it’s rumoured that William Tell will be visiting us again this year.

Do come and join us!
